Looted or not? The debate flares up as new findings are revealed.

With the removal of soil from the second chamber, sections of marble door were revealed, as the Ministry of Culture announced yesterday. These new findings in front of the doorway of the third diaphragmatic wall have given rise to debate whether the tomb is looted or not.

Some interpret these findings as a sign that the tomb was looted. This is indeed the first that comes to mind. For what other reason could a door be smashed into pieces?

There is a detail though that could show that raiding is not the case here. The fragments of the marble door where found in front of the third diaphragmatic door, which means, in the area of the second chamber. Anyone that would have tried to breach the door would have done this from the outside (from the area of the second chamber, with a direction to the third chamber). But if this was the case, the marble pieces of the door should have fallen behind the doorway, in the area of the third chamber.

So what could have caused the breaking of the marble door? It could be Bulgarian artillery shells in 1913 or a big earthquake that produced vibrations and oscillations.
